In the SCaV3NG3R Game Engine, a location is made by filling in a valid URL to a file (either jpg, png or swf) that depicts the place where the Scene takes place.

The dimensions must be 999 pixels wide by 666 pixels tall.

If you're a Flash person then you know that by making your Location a swf you are able to have your own custom animations and interactions outside of the game system; this is entirely optional -just keep in mind the game runs at 60 frames per second, so your swf should too.

If you are making a game for the SCaV3NG3R universe, then your Location should have its Shadowside counterpart (aka the ghost world). You can download a photoshop macro to easily generate shadowside versions of any location, from our assets page.

You can have certain Items load -only- in the Shadowside, and then they would only be visible via cellphone; see the Items section for more details (in a nutshell: give them the "ghost_" prefix).

If a location file exists and if an intro file also exists, then the game will stop right after the intro and players will have to click on a "Let Us Begin" button to continue.

If there's only an intro file but not a location file, then that button won't appear -making it ideal for your end Scenes.

If there is only a Location file but no intro file, then the game starts automatically without interruption.

The following video tutorial walkthrough the creation of Locations and navigation for the game "The Gibson House".
